Cabinet looks ahead after ticking off 30 day plan

Premier Campbell Newman says the LNP Government is on the path to getting Queensland back on track, announcing his team has accomplished every item in its First 30 Day Plan.

Today’s Cabinet meeting, which marked day 30, finalised the remaining few action points to complete the 30-day agenda.

“We promised Queensland we would be a Government that acts on its commitments and gets things done. Ticking off this first major stage of our action plan proves that is the case,” Mr Newman said.

“We have already accomplished some major promises and reforms that will make this state a better place.

“Today Cabinet endorsed the drafting of laws to once again make it illegal to lie to parliament. The public expects parliamentarians to act responsibly and with the highest integrity. They can now have confidence that will be the case.

“We have also established a Cabinet Committee, to be chaired by the Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, In frastructure and Planning, Jeff Seeney, which is focussed on property and construction. Unlocking activity in the sector is critical to the state’s economic recovery, particularly providing jobs and infrastructure.”

Some of the other items completed in the first 30 days include:
• regulating to freeze family car registration.
• appointing the Bruce Highway Crisis Management Group.
• establishing DestinationQ as part of our tourism strategy.
• beginning the transition of around 50 police from behind office desks and back into front line policing.
• commencing drafting amendments to reduce real estate red tape.
• negotiating a new enterprise bargaining agreement with nurses and midwives.

“My team of ministers and all our MPs are working hard to implement the LNP Government’s agenda,” Mr Newman said.

“We have no plans to slow down. This stage is just a part of our First 100 Day Action Plan.

“We’ll be doing more to cut the waste left behind as Labor’s legacy. We’ll do more to establish and strengthen our four-pillar economy and ease the cost of living for Queenslanders.”
