DestinationQ sessions to go live

Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey has announced plenary sessions of the inaugural DestinationQ Forum will be streamed live on the web, for those who are unable to attend the landmark tourism event.

Ms Stuckey said people will be able to listen to tourism operators, industry heavyweights, investors, and Government Ministers, as they shape the future of Queensland tourism.

“The Newman Government is serious about working closely with industry, to put Queensland front of mind as Australia’s premier tourist destination,” Ms Stuckey said.

“I am extremely heartened by the eagerness of operators to join in this partnership with us, as we lay out a vision to reinvigorate and rebuild our industry.

“There has been an impressive response, with the DestinationQ Forum oversubscribed by 50 per cent. We have had registrations from Coolangatta to Cape York.”

Ms Stuckey has encouraged those not attending to have their say by providing input before the event. They are:

“We want as many people as possible to put their ideas and suggestions forward on the direction they want tourism in Queensland to take,” she said.

“A strong tourism sector will play a pivotal role in the Newman Government’s goal of reducing unemployment to 4% over six years. It’s one of the four pillars of our economy.

“Our plan is to lift visitor spending to $30 billion by 2020, restoring confidence and boosting tourism activity across the State.

“It’s important that government and industry unite to achieve real and substantial outcomes for tourism.”
