A Tim Nicholls-led Liberal National Government will guarantee the continuation of local public health services through the Noosa Hospital well into the future.
The Problem

The current service agreement between the State Government and Ramsay Healthcare which operates Noosa Hospital is due to expire in June 2020.

Noosa residents need certainty that the Emergency Department at Noosa Hospital will remain open, while the hospital’s ongoing capacity to provide beds to public patients also must be guaranteed.

Our Record

In government, the LNP cleared the backlog of patients waiting for dental treatment and Cochlear implants, reduced every single waiting list and announced the introduction of Australia’s first-ever Wait Time Guarantee to make sure Queenslanders could get their surgery on time, every time.

We also entrusted the management of hospitals to local Hospital and Health Boards, rather than Queensland Health’s corporate bureaucracy in Brisbane. The LNP also delivered 1000 more nurses and 800 more doctors.

Our Real Plan

LNP Member for Noosa Glen Elmes and a Tim Nicholls-led LNP Government will negotiate a new 30-year lease for the Noosa Hospital to ensure local public services continue beyond the end of the current agreement in 2020.

An LNP Government will also provide an extra $5 million per year (indexed) for additional services in the hospital’s Emergency Department.

This extra funding will deliver more public medical procedures to cater for the changing age and social profile of the Noosa community.

On average Noosa Hospital admits 60 patients per day and employs more than 400 staff across a range of clinical and non-clinical professions, meaning its future is integral to providing quality health services for the Noosa region.

Noosa Hospital offers an outstanding service to the community and this LNP policy provides certainty for its future, the health of residents and job security for employees.
