Families and businesses are paying more through higher taxes and increased living costs under a Labor Government stuck in neutral.
For four years in a row, Annastacia Palaszczuk will have increased family car rego by 3.5% - more than twice the inflation rate. They are treating motorists like cash cows because they can’t sustainably manage the budget.
Annastacia Palaszczuk’s rego slug means a four-cylinder family car now costs over $700 to register – an increase of $50 in just two years!
Labor have form in gouging Queenslanders; under the Bligh Labor Government we saw car rego soar by 30 per cent in their last four years at the same time public transport fares increased by over 50 per cent.
The Queensland Government is also one of only two states which does not offer seniors a discount on their driver licences.
The cost of living keeps rising and Labor has no plan to offer Queenslanders relief. How can you afford another three years of Labor?
The LNP has a strong track record of delivering cost of living relief for motorists. In 2012 we froze car registration on the family car for three years and will do so again.
This meant that the cost of car rego at the start of 2015 was the same as at the start of 2012.
Queenslanders with a 4-cylinder car saved $45 under the LNP’s policy.
OUR REAL PLAN
A Tim Nicholls-led LNP Government will offer Queenslanders with a Seniors Card cost of living relief by halving the price of renewing a driver licence.
Currently in Queensland, holders of a Queensland Seniors Card are not eligible for any concessions on driver licence fees.
The LNP will halve the cost of licences for seniors.
Our discount will see driver licence fees range from around $36 to $82 as opposed to the existing fees under Labor which could cost up to $165.
Combined with our commitment to freeze car registration fees for the next term of government, Queensland seniors will be better off under an LNP Government.
