Highfields Ambulance

The Highfields Ambulance station and its staff provide a vital service to our local community. So having the local ambulance station progress from 3, to now 11 full time and part-time staff is a significant investment in the safety of Highfields and our surrounding communities.

As part of my commitment to the ongoing safety of our community, I was happy to see another ambulance vehicle worth more than $262,000, and fitted with the latest technology, delivered to the Highfields Ambulance Station.

Highfields Sports Park

I am also so delighted that the people of Toowoomba North, Highfields, and surrounding areas will soon benefit from a new ….. multi field sports park, and I hope it helps deliver a greater participation in sport at the grassroots level.

The 39.4ha at Barracks road will soon be home to the new Highfields Sports Park, with allocated funding to the project of around…. Million dollars.

Subject to final approvals, development and construction will include:

  • three fields,
  • a netball and tennis court precinct with room for up to 18 courts
  • two clubhouses and ancillary facilities
  • significant formalised car parking, and
  • 2 recreation nodes with a walk & cycle path network

Highfields State Secondary College

Since elected, my promise and commitment to the people of Highfields, and the communities of Toowoomba North, was to see the Highfields State Secondary College become a reality. A promise now delivered, and one which will certainly make living and raising a family in Highfields much more convenient.. taking away the burden of traveling long distances each day.

With Highfields being one of the fastest growing communities in our region it was essential for the community to have a local high school. So we committed $35 million over three years from 2012-13 to build the much wanted new Secondary College, with stage one of the High School catering for up to 260 Year 7 and 8 junior secondary students in the 2015 school year. Further stages for years 9 and 10 in 2016-17, and for years 11 and 12 in 2018-19, will accommodate an estimated 1000 students, giving students access to the best possible high school education, right here in our community.

So whatever their chosen path, whether through trade, starting a business, family or furthering their education… the Highfields State Secondary College will nurture and educate tomorrow’s workforce, leaders and innovators.
