Treasurer wraps up Commission of Audit briefings
QUEENSLAND Treasurer Tim Nicholls has finished briefing key groups and representatives on findings contained in the Independent Commission of Audit’s Interim Report.
Mr Nicholls today met with representatives from unions including the Queensland Nurses Union, Queensland Teachers Union, Queensland Council of Unions, Together Union and the Queensland Police Union at Parliament House.
Today’s briefing follows meetings held earlier in the week with key representatives from business, industry and crossbench MPs.
Mr Nicholls detailed the need for restoring the state’s financial health in each of the briefings.
He said it was disappointing the Labor Opposition reneged on its original decision to attend a briefing.
“Clearly Labor isn’t interested in knowing what needs to be done to get our finances back on track and they are clearly in denial about the extent of the damage they inflicted on Queensland,” Mr Nicholls said.
“By continuing to stick their heads in the sand, Labor has confirmed it doesn’t want to take part in constructive debate about Queensland’s future.
“It seems Labor has learnt nothing from its election defeat in March.”
