LNP campaigns to reopen Baillie Henderson pool

The LNP is welcoming the planned reopening of the Baillie Henderson Hospital pool after almost 12 months in limbo.

On a visit to Toowoomba today, LNP Shadow Minister for Health Ros Bates said the pool was scheduled to reopen in April after confirmation that the recruitment of a centre manager and lifeguards was underway.

“The pool is an important health service providing hydrotherapy for many seniors, people with a disability and patients in rehab,” Ms Bates said.

“The pool has been out of action since May last year to accommodate repairs and the public has been unable to access the service.

“Local LNP MPs have been fighting to have this important local service reopened.

“Reopening the pool is an important step in delivering better health outcomes for Toowoomba residents and they can’t afford for it to be delayed any longer.”

LNP MP for Toowoomba North Trevor Watts said the reopening of the pool would benefit many local groups.

“The pool is used by the Toowoomba Aquatherapy Group and the Toowoomba District Multiple Sclerosis Support Group who want the pool back in action,” Mr Watts said.

“The pool has had a long history of opening and closing due to maintenance.

“The LNP believes it’s time to set the pool up for a strong future and that hinges on recruiting a centre manager to take it in the right direction.”
