Our community in Toowoomba North continues to face challenges left behind by the Labor Government, including the health crisis, housing affordability, and underinvestment in local infrastructure.
The Crisafulli Government’s 2025-26 Queensland Budget lays the foundation for the fresh start we promised, with targeted investments to address the issues that matter most to our region. As your strong local voice for Toowoomba North, I’m proud to be part of a Government delivering real tangible solutions for our community.
The previous Labor Government’s underinvestment in healthcare left our hospitals struggling. The Crisafulli Government is investing $18.5 billion in the Hospital Rescue Plan. This includes the single campus Toowoomba Hospital at Baillie Henderson, with a minimum of 538 beds, ensuring we can meet our region’s growing healthcare needs. We’re also growing our local healthcare workforce to 5,797 (FTE), ensuring better care for all.
Ensuring safety where you live is a top priority. We are committing $147.9 million to support the Queensland Police Service in keeping Toowoomba North safe. We’re also investing in early intervention programs to address the youth crime crisis left by the previous government.
$225 million will go toward the Staying on Track Program, providing rehabilitation support for youth in detention.
In housing, we are allocating $8 million for new social homes in Toowoomba and introducing the $165 million Housing Boost to Buy Program, making homeownership more accessible for locals.
The Back to School Boost will provide $100 to every primary school child across Queensland to help cover school essentials.
We’re investing $10 million in a new manufacturing hub in Toowoomba, creating jobs, and boosting the economy.
The Play On! Voucher Program will be expanded to encompass both Summer and Winter sports, the two rounds per year help reduce the cost of kids’ sports for families in our community.
Infrastructure projects are key to our region’s future. We’ve committed to the business case for the second road into Highfields, and $1 million allocated for road safety upgrades for schools in Wilsonton, Newtown, and Highfields.
We’re boosting tourism and enhancing the visitor experience at Toowoomba Sports Ground, with $3.6 million to upgrade the venue. Attracting new events, driving more people into our local businesses, and supporting our region’s economy.
Planning will begin for the Equestrian Centre of Excellence leaving a legacy from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, bringing global attention and boosting tourism in Toowoomba.
This budget is a clear demonstration of our Government’s commitment to improving healthcare, safety, housing, and infrastructure in Toowoomba North. I look forward to continuing to serve and represent our community as your strong local voice, delivering our fair share for Toowoomba North ensuring it remains a fantastic place to live work and raise a family.
