Labor’s poor planning puts Queensland at further risk

Sunday,15th March 2020

The economic mismanagement of Annastacia Palaszczuk and Jackie Trad means the coronavirus will hit Queensland even harder.

LNP Deputy Leader and Shadow Treasurer Tim Mander said with nine new job-destroying taxes ripping $3.5 billion from the economy in the last two years and state debt heading towards $92 billion, Labor has failed to provide an economic buffer to support business and protect jobs.

“We already had the highest unemployment rate in the nation under Labor before Coronavirus hit,” Mr Mander said.

“Queensland also had the highest number of bankruptcies and youth unemployment was the worst in the country, thanks to the Palaszczuk Labor Government.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk needs to rule out any new taxes to provide the economic confidence that encourages investment and creates local jobs.

“While the LNP has already guaranteed no new taxes, business confidence in Queensland is already the lowest in a decade under Labor. “Now, more than ever, Jackie Trad needs to reverse her high taxing, low growth and anti-jobs agenda.”
