LNP Leader Deb Frecklington has announced a new funding commitment for Maleny, during a visit to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland today.
One
million dollars has been allocated to progress the Maleny Hydrotherapy Centre,
the first stage in the region’s new Indoor Aquatic Facility.
Ms Frecklington said the project will have enormous benefits for the region.
“It’s exciting to commit this significant contribution to makes these
facilities a reality,” Ms Frecklington said.
“The LNP has worked tirelessly with the community and council to provide
improved hydrotherapy and aquatic facilities for everyone in Maleny and
surrounds.”
LNP Member for Glass House Andrew Powell said the one-off grant will cover the
costs of infrastructure, power, water and the roads needed to access the site.
“The funding will also ensure other stages can be
built sooner rather than later,” Mr Powell said.
“The LNP knows the benefits of a healthy and active community and that’s why
we’re proud to make this announcement today.”
President of the Maleny Hydrotherapy Inc Mr Tim Bagshaw said the organisation
is thrilled with the LNP’s announcement.
“These funds will provide a significant contribution towards establishing the
Maleny Hydrotherapy Centre,” Mr Bagshaw said.
“Hydrotherapy provides effective exercise for both rehabilitation and fitness
and our vision it to progress the health of the local community through hydrotherapy.”
