LNP Media Statement: Protester tests positive for coronavirus

Comment from LNP Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates on news that a man who attended Melbourne’s BLM rally at the weekend has tested positive for coronavirus:

“The protesters who ignored coronavirus restrictions to march through Brisbane have put Queensland lives and livelihoods at risk.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s decision to allow the march was reckless and irresponsible.

“Labor should have stopped the protest, given that proud veterans and their families were stopped from marching through Brisbane on ANZAC Day.

“Those who attended the Queensland rallies should be encouraged to be tested even if they don’t have symptoms, following the news that a man tested positive following his attendance at the Melbourne rally.

“Queensland cannot risk the consequences of a second wave.”
