RTI REVELATIONS: Miles caught-out misleading again

Miles’ Canberra Cuts Charade exposed as Queensland Ministers “negotiated” infrastructure cuts weeks prior to trip

Premier Steven Miles has been caught-out again blatantly misleading Queenslanders, in the same week he was forced to apologise for misleading the Parliament.

Astonishing internal communications between the Commonwealth Government and the Palaszczuk-Miles Government released to the LNP Opposition under Right to Information, has revealed Miles’ Canberra charade.

In November, Federal Minister Catherine King announced 14 projects had been cut entirely or been put on the go-slow.

RTI documents now reveal Palaszczuk-Miles Government Ministers “negotiated” “changes to the projects lists”, despite later claiming their government “has not and will not cooperate”.

Despite secretly “negotiating” Labor’s cuts list Steven Miles led a farce “Team Queensland” delegation to Canberra weeks later, announcing his aim was “convincing the Commonwealth not to accept the proposals in this review”, which amounted to nothing.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure Jarrod Bleijie said Labor’s “Team Queensland” Canberra trip had been exposed as nothing more than a dirty political trick.

“Labor’s cuts charade is another dirty political trick by a Premier Queenslanders can’t trust,” Mr Bleijie said.

“Labor was telling Queenslanders one thing and doing another thing behind closed doors.

“Steven Miles architected an infrastructure razor gang and has treated Queenslanders as mugs, expecting them to believe their lies.

“The truth is, the ink was dry on Labor’s cuts list long before the Canberra charade because they ‘negotiated’ the list with their Labor mates.

“The fact they carried on with their Canberra charade that cost Queenslanders thousands of dollars and delivered nothing but cuts, is just another example of Steven Miles’ deepening integrity crisis.

“This Premier’s integrity is on trial, after admitting he lied Steven Miles has now been exposed taking Queenslanders for a ride, caring more about delivering his political future than delivering the infrastructure for the future of Queenslanders.

“The Palaszczuk-Miles Government’s wrong priorities and constant state of chaos and crisis is costing Queenslanders.”
